Next "Cloverfield" movie delayed once again

The indirect follow-up to "10 Cloverfield Lane" has been moved to a later date in 2018.

3 Jan – The third movie in the "Cloverfield" franchise is no longer releasing in early 2018, as the latest update brought word that it has been moved to a spring date instead.

The upcoming movie, previously scheduled for a North American release of 2 February 2018, has been moved by Paramount Pictures to 20 April 2018, according to Coming Soon.

While earlier the title of the third movie is reported to be "God Particle", recent updates reveal that it may be undergoing a name change as well.

This is the third release date change for the movie, which was meant to be released on 24 February 2017 before being moved to 17 October 2017 and later 2 February 2018. With these many changes, fans might want to brace themselves for another possible delay.

The movie will serve as an indirect threequel to 2008's "Cloverfield". Like the 2016 spiritual successor "10 Cloverfield Lane", the stories do not correlate to each other.

This time the setting will be in space, where a team of astronauts aboard an American space station has to fight for their survival after an accident with a particle accelerator causes Earth to disappear, leaving them alone in outer space, though not for long when they unexpectedly pick up traces of another space station nearby.

Zhang Ziyi Zhang ("Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon"), Daniel Bruhl ("Captain America: Civil War"), David Oyelowo ("Interstellar") and Gugu Mbatha-Raw ("Beyond the Lights") star in the yet-to-be-titled "Cloverfield" movie.
