There's a new animated film coming from the makers of "Zootopia"!

19 Jun – News broke a few months ago that "Zootopia" directors Byron Howard and Jared Bush are working on another Disney movie.

Details were lacking back then but now The DisInsider has revealed the plot and title of the upcoming Walt Disney Animation Studios' original movie.

Reportedly, the movie is titled "Encanto", meaning "charm" in English. It will focus on a young girl in Brazil who comes from a family with magical powers. Unfortunately, the girl didn't inherit these powers.

Director Bush will be co-writing the screenplay with Charise Castro Smith, whose writing and producing credits include several episodes of "The Haunting of Hill House".

Serving as producers are Clark Spencer ("Ralph Breaks the Internet") and Yvett Merino Flores ("Moana"), while Lin-Manuel Miranda ("Mary Poppins Returns') will be writing the music.

After Discussing Film reported on this project a few months back, there's been speculation that the movie will be set in the same universe as "Moana", presumably because of Miranda's involvement in both. The DisInsider sources have denied the theory.

This will, however, be the third animated Disney movie in recent years to star a woman of colour. First was 2016's "Moana", led by the titular Polynesian teen, and the other is the upcoming "Raya and the Last Dragon", whose titular character is an Asian warrior.

There's no release date set for "Encanto" yet, but it could be the 24 November 2021 slot that currently holds an untitled Disney movie. Note that it could also be released under a different title by then, similar to how "Raya and the Last Dragon" was previously referred to as "Dragon Empire" before its official title was revealed.
