31 May – It wasn't just Malaysian fans who were excited by Kamal Haasan's arrival in Malaysia, as politician Anwar Ibrahim also made some time to meet with the said king of Tamil films. On 29 May, the Malaysian Opposition leader shared several photos of him on social media with the revered Indian actor-producer, who has made several movies about corruption. In one photo, the actor and the politician are seen sitting down in a meeting room together, seemingly having a hearty conversation. He wrote, "MEETING WITH KAMAL HAASAN. Today we met the figure and superstar Kamal Haasan. Held a lengthy discussion with him especially on Indian history and the question of good governance, as well as firmness against corruption." "I will be attending the premiere of his latest film 'Vikram' on June 3 in the capital," he added.
Some of the netizens who saw the photos couldn't help but joked that Anwar might be the reason why Kamal was late to his subsequent event. Kamal arrived in Malaysia recently to promote the action film "Vikram", which co-stars Vijay Sethupathi and Fahadh Faasil. The film is set to be released in Malaysia and Singapore on 3 June. Following his trip to Malaysia, Kamal will be traveling to Dubai for the same reason.
