24 Jun – Natalie Portman recently shared her experience of buffing up for her role in the next Marvel movie, "Thor: Love and Thunder", and revealed that it was nothing like her previous transformation in "Black Swan". The actress, who sat down with Variety recently, shared that playing Jane Foster this time required her not only to get herself in shape, but also to stand at nearly the same height as her 6'3 ft co-star Chris Hemsworth.
"On 'Black Swan,' I was asked to get as small as possible. Here, I was asked to get as big as possible. That's an amazing challenge - and also state of mind as a woman," she said.
Portman revealed that she actually had to train over ten months with a trainer before and during filming to rebuild her physique. "To have this reaction and be seen as big, you realise, 'Oh, this must be so different, to walk through the world like this'. When you're small, and also, I think, because I started as a kid, a lot of times I feel young or little or, like, a pat-on-the-head kind of person. And I present myself that way, too, because of that," she added. As for standing toe-to-toe with Thor himself, the actress said that the crew got creative by building a deck for her to walk or stand next to Hemsworth in their scenes. "It was actually one of our running jokes. They'd all have to navigate my deck!" she said with a laugh.
