Kumar and two of his friends faced injustice and police brutality when Andhra Pradesh`s Guntur district police arrested and tortured them for 13 days, trying to blame them for a case they did not commit. The first half of the movie is largely based on the autobiography "Lock Up" by rickshaw-turned-writer M. Chandrakumar while the second half is fiction by director Vetrimaran.
