"The Batman" loses director, Ben Affleck himself

"The Batman" is on the hunt for a new director.

31 Jan – Ben Affleck is removing the title director from his Batfleck resume. Yes, this means the 44-year-old will no longer be directing the upcoming standalone movie, "The Batman".

Before you fans go all Joker on this news, this doesn't mean Affleck is completely out of the picture. He may be removing himself as the director but he will still be the titular star of the movie.

"Performing this role demands focus, passion and the very best performance I can give. It has become clear that I cannot do both jobs to the level they require," said Affleck, as quoted by Variety.

"Together with the studio, I have decided to find a partner in a director who will collaborate with me on this massive film."

"I am still in this, and we are making it, but we are currently looking for a director. I remain extremely committed to this project, and look forward to bringing this to life for fans around the world."

The "Batman V Superman" star will remain as lead actor and producer for the movie.

Currently, Affleck and Warner Bros. are on the hunt for a new helmer. Word has it, the actor and the studio are eyeing "War for the Planet of the Apes" director Matt Reeves.

Affleck first donned the Batcape last year in "Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice", followed by an appearance in "Suicide Squad".

Catch Batfleck next in "Justice League Part One", opening in cinemas this November.
