21 Jun – Looks like the Han Solo "Star Wars" spinoff has hit a speedbump, as it was recently revealed by Lucasfilm that the project is currently without directors. A newly-posted message on StarWars.com announced that helmers Phil Lord and Christopher Miller have exited the project and it will "move forward with a directorial change". Creative differences were the reason offered, as stated by Kathleen Kennedy, president of Lucasfilm: "Phil Lord and Christopher Miller are talented filmmakers who have assembled an incredible cast and crew, but it's become clear that we had different creative visions on this film, and we've decided to part ways." Kennedy added that a new director will soon be announced. Lord and Miller also stated: "Unfortunately, our vision and process weren't aligned with our partners on this project. "We normally aren't fans of the phrase 'creative differences' but for once this cliché is true." Previously, it was revealed that the Han Solo spinoff would span seven years. It will chronicle how the young Han (or whatever his name might be, as it would only be revealed in the movie how he got his name) became the smuggler that Luke Skywalker and Obi-Wan Kenobi first met in the cantina at Mos Eisley. Fans will also learn of how young Han Solo first met Chewbacca and how he gets to own the Millennium Falcon. Currently, Alden Ehrenreich has been tapped to star as the young Han Solo while Woody Harrelson will play the gunslinger's mentor.
