"It" trailer breaks records and the internet!

What's behind that red balloon? Here's a hint: "It" has a red nose.

3 Apr – New Line Cinema's "It" trailer scared pretty much everyone on the planet and broke a few records at the same time when it was made available to the public on 29 March.

Within 24 hours of its CinemaCon debut, the trailer for the upcoming Stephen King adapted film smashed YouTube traffic records with 197 million views, far surpassing the previous record of 139 million views set by Universal's "The Fate of the Furious" back in December.

According to Deadline, just hours after its release, the "It" trailer became a viral sensation, trending across Facebook, Twitter as well as Reddit. The film trended globally with trends and hashtags of 'It', 'It movie', 'Pennywise' and the red balloon emoji appearing everywhere.

The film focuses on seven children in the town of Derry, Maine, where children have begun to go missing. The group of children have to square off against a dangerous being that generally appears as a demonic clown called Pennywise.

"It" is directed by Andres Muschietti and Pennywise is played by Bill Skarsgard ("The Divergent Series: Allegiant"). An ensemble of young actors also stars in the film, including "Stranger Things" star, Finn Wolfhard and Jaeden Lieberher from "Midnight Special".

The film comes out in theatres on 7 September. You can choose to go watch it with a friend or – if you're afraid of embarrassing yourself, screaming and crying like a baby – you can go watch it alone. Just make sure that the seats next to you, behind you and in front of you are occupied by actual people when you do.
