5 May – Now that their deal with Fox is expiring, Ryan Reynolds' production company, Maximum Effort recently announced that it has now inked a first-look deal with Paramount. In a statement, Reynolds admitted that he is happy that the company will be working with Paramount next, especially what with his history with Paramount CEO Jim Gianopulos during his "Deadpool" days.
"The 'Deadpool' movies would never have happened without [Paramount CEO] Jim Gianopulos and [Motion Picture Group President] Emma Watts and personally, I've come to rely on Emma's incredible insights and instincts. Moviegoing deserves a comeback and we're excited to help make it happen with Jim, Emma and the rest of the Paramount team," he stated. It is noted that "Deadpool" was released in 2014 while Gianopoulos served as Chairman of 20th Century Fox and Watt as production president. Gianopoulos left Fox a year later to become CEO of Paramount, followed by Watts. No details have been given as to what project Maximum Effort - which was established in 2018 - will be doing with Paramount for the time being. On the other hand, Reynolds himself will be busy promoting his new movie, "Free Guy", which is a part of his company's previous collaboration with Fox.
