28 Dec – It hasn't always been easy being a "nepo baby", as Abhishek Bachchan revealed recently that he was rejected by many directors when he wanted to enter showbiz. The actor, who started out in the late '90s, revealed that while there was excitement about "Amitabh Bachchan's son" joining the industry, people in the industry themselves were not interested in working with him.
"I think I met all the directors I could have met, and they all very respectfully declined saying, 'We don't want the responsibility of watching you,'" he said in the Hindi Actors Roundtable on Galatta Plus.
Abhishek stated that he then began developing a film with friend Rakeys Omprakash Mehra titled "Samjhauta Express", but that his father refused to produce it under his company, saying that the script was "nonsense". The older Bachchan then took Abhishek to the Filmfare Awards, where he was spotted by filmmaker JP Dutta. The said director offered him a role in a movie that didn't materialise, but then cast Abhishek eventually in the 2000 movie, "Refugee" alongside newcomer (and also nepo baby) Kareena Kapoor.
