24 May - While his films are known for the trademark grandeur and opulence, Sanjay Leela Bhansali recently revealed that his upcoming movie, "Love and War" will be different from his other films.

Speaking to the media regarding the new project, Bhansali stated that he will explore the theme of a love triangle, something that he said has been missing from Hindi cinema for a while now.

"It's a love story that I'm making after a long time. A slightly contemporary work, different from the dances, pillars, architecture, drapes, curtains, and jewellery [of "Heeramandi"]. It's a new language, milieu, and ambience for me," Bhansali said.

As to why the departure from his other works, the filmmaker said that he wants to keep himself excited.

"I needed [it] very much to excite me as a filmmaker to do something new, to speak of a different period, a different set of characters, and new circumstances," he said.

He also expressed excitement on working with Alia Bhatt, Ranbir Kapoor and Vicky Kaushal, especially the latter, whom he hasn't worked with in the past.

It is noted that Bhansali has worked with Ranbir in "Saawariya" and Alia in "Gangubai Kathiawadi".

The film is scheduled for release in late 2025.
