JPBC goes south

Hot property: Lisa Surihani

8 Jul – Prolific production house Metrowealth's first stab at horror-comedy "Jangan Pandang Belakang Congkak" travels southside to Singapore on 23 July after grossing in excess of RM 6 million at the Malaysian box office, according to its head honcho David Teo.

The movie is now in its sixth week of release in Malaysia and still going strong. It was noted to outperform the then debuting "Drag Me To Hell" and "Blood: The Last Vampire" at the box office at some point, restoring hope to Malaysian filmmakers who are said to be marginalised by big Hollywood titles.

It is understood that the "Jangan Pandang Belakang Congkak" crew, including lead actress Lisa Surihani, will be in Singapore today to announce the late release via a press conference.
