Amy Adams for Lois Lane

Amy Adams to play Lois Lane

28 Mar –3 time Oscar-nominee Amy Adams has just been confirmed to play Superman's leading lady, Lois Lane, in the much anticipated Zack Snyder's 2012 reboot tentatively titled as "Man Of Steel", according to the LA Times.

Snyder reportedly phoned Adams regarding the "Superman" news while in Paris on Sunday, 27 March and he explained that the Lois Lane role would be "a linchpin" for his vision of the new Superman movie.

"There was a big, giant search for Lois, for us it was a big thing and obviously a really important role. We did a lot of auditioning but we had this meeting with Amy Adams and after that I just felt she was perfect for it," Snyder told the LA Times.

The "Enchanted" actress is fresh off an Academy Award nomination for her work in The Oscar nominated drama, "The Fighter" and in the movie, she played a bartender named Charlene who falls in love with struggling boxer Micky Ward portrayed by Mark Wahlberg.

Last week it was reported that Kevin Costner and Diane Lane would play Superman's adoptive parents, Jonathan Kent and Martha Kent respectively while British actor Henry Cavill of HBO's "The Tudors" fame will be playing Clark Kent and the man in tights.

Snyder's current film "Sucker Punch" is being harshly ravaged by critics and fans of the cape donning superhero are keeping their fingers crossed for the upcoming Warner Bros. and Legendary Pictures flick that is slated for a tentative December 2012 release.
