30 Jun – "Transformers" movie fans Ooi Eu Veng and Tan Thong Kai did the unexpected when they bought 100 tickets at one go to catch the highly anticipated sequel, "Transformers: Revenge Of The Fallen" on 27 June 2009 at GSC Mid Valley, Kuala Lumpur. Ooi Veng, who was fortunate enough to catch the film on opening day through a Hitz.fm's contest, said, "I've always wanted to do something like that. For example, buy up the whole cinema for a movie screening. The idea of having almost the whole cinema to ourselves is really cool!"

He further adds, "First thing we found out was that we were not allowed to book a whole cinema hall on its opening weekend until two weeks after its official release. So the next best thing was to buy 100 tickets one shot to share the experience with our friends and family. My friend Thong Kai paid for it first at the counter price of RM12 and my concern was that we wouldn't be able to fill them up. I guess the allure of the 'Transformers 2' was pretty strong because we managed to sell out all of the seats at counter price within two days! And there were more people who wanted to join, but we had to say 'no' to them."

In the Malaysian box office, indications are that ticket sales for the two days of screening had beaten the entire run of "Star Trek." By the end of its first weekend (Sunday, 28 June), it had exceeded the RM10 million mark, paving its way to break Malaysia's all-time box office record of RM18 million held by "Transformers" two years ago. It is possible that within its second week, "Transformer: Revenge Of The Fallen" will surpass the current all-time record held by "Transformers" and could very well exceed the RM25 million mark within its run. In comparison, a handful of major blockbusters in 2008 hovered between RM10 to 14 million. In Singapore, the film also stormed its way to the top on its opening weekend followed by Sam Raimi's horror comeback, "Drag Me To Hell" and the romantic comedy "Ghost Of Girlfriends Past" starring Matthew McConaughey.

After watching "Transformers: Revenge Of The Fallen," Eu Veng commented, "The movie was not bad at all. Watching it for the first time was better of course, but with more friends, it was a whole different experience. To me this movie means more bots, more guns, and of course more Fox. Moreover, it also means entering the cinema like a small army!"

Transformers: Revenge Of The Fallen" is currently playing in cinemas nationwide!
